Canned Food Drive

canned food drive

Las Lomas Elementary had challenged Wilderness Oak Elementary to a FOOD FIGHT!! Yes, that is right, but our food fight will benefit local food pantries. We have challenged each other to bring in as many non-perishable foods as possible during a two week period. Las Lomas donations will go to the King of Kings Food Pantry which serves the greater Woodstone area. This faith based charity provides support for families who attend Woodstone Elementary, our sister school.

We will collect canned and non-perishable foods until Friday, December 12, 2014. On Friday, December 19, 2014, King of Kings will pick up all donations as our students participate in our annual “Gift of Giving Parade.” The classroom on each grade level who brings in the most canned goods will be recognized at school. Please be as generous as you can be.

Combined Charitable Campaign Drive

united way check

NEISD annually participates in the Combined Charitable Campaign Drive / United Way. This year, Las Lomas staff set a goal for ourselves to raise $3000.00. The staff exceeded our goal and earned the Travis Award for the level of contribution we made. We were the only NEISD elementary school to earn this award. We were also awarded a $1,500.00 grant from the North East Education Foundation.

December Wildly Important Goals (WIGS)

Las Lomas 2014-2015 Student Attendance Goal: 97%.
Our daily attendance rate (Nov. 21) was 95.9%. Our average daily attendance for the month of November was 96.9%.

During the second 6-week cycle, Las Lomas was 5th in district for all elementary schools and 5th in the Reagan Cluster of elementary / middle / high schools.

Thank you for supporting our children and having them in school as much as possible.

Presidential Volunteer Service Award

As a Leader in Me school, Las Lomas has set a Wildly Important Goal, or WIG, for this school year that 25% of the students would be involved in the President's Volunteer Service Award program. We currently are not making our goal.

If your child volunteers here at school, at church, or in the community, we want to ask you to create an account and log the service hours provided to any of these organizations. Click here for instructions and contact information. We appreciate you emphasizing the importance of giving back to our community with your child.

Career Day

Big things are happening at Las Lomas Elementary! Our students have made great progress and are on their way to achieving greatness. However, there is one thing that will make a huge significance in each of their young lives and that is the presence of an outstanding role model. YOU have the opportunity to be this role model. It is a simple and quick way you can make a difference- Career Day.

We are asking you to share your experience, knowledge, and wisdom, but most of all show our kids how exciting their future can be.

What will you do?
All we ask is that you create a video in your work environment.  You may share what your profession is and why you think it is a great career. A little bit of your time can change a child for a lifetime!
