I am KSAT's 8th grade high-powered rocketry instructor. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio in 1998 and this is my 10th year with the KSAT program. For the past 9 years I have been a coach for the Science UIL team for 6th, 7th and 8th grade. I obtained my level one rocketry certification in 2007 and my level two in 2014! Having grown up right across the street from NASA-Johnson Space Center in Houston, I have had a long-standing interest in the field of aerospace science.

My name is Mrs. Erin Hughes, and I am the 8th grade KSAT Pre-AP and GT English teacher. I have a Bachelors in English Literature from Binghamton University in New York, and a Masters in Teaching for Secondary English from the State University of New York at Cortland. This is my fourth year as a part of the 8K Team, and I absolutely love it! My KSAT English Language Arts and Reading classes provide opportunities for students to become well-rounded problem solvers who take challenges head-on, and feel empowered to make a difference. Students leave my class prepared for the challenges of high school, and confident that their reading and writing skill set provides a strong foundation for whatever path they choose to pursue.

I have taught a total of 11 years. Prior to coming to Krueger Middle School, I was a classroom teacher and worked in central office at Northside Independent School District, where I wrote science curriculum for the district and provided staff developments to teachers and principals.
In addition, I have a strong background in Science. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Biology and Chemistry and a Master's of Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. I also graduated with Master’s in Biology from University of Incarnate Word. I completed a graduate research program at the National Institute of Health and Harvard University in molecular biotechnology.
I am also married to my wonderful husband Patrick and I have one son named Joseph who is seven years old.
» Joel Mink • Social Studies | firstname.lastname@example.org
I graduated from Asbury University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Four years later, I earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling. In 1999, I returned to California and worked in the social work field, serving foster children with Child Protective Services and in the Juvenile Dependency Courts in Riverside County. While working in this area, my interest in teaching history surfaced again and again. In 2012, my family and I moved to Texas and I began my career in teaching and the rest is history (U.S. History, that is!). I have been teaching at NEISD since 2012 and this year will mark my second full year at Krueger Middle School.
» Elizabeth Bernal • Math | email@example.com
I earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Mathematics from the University of Texas at San Antonio. This is my 10th year at Krueger. During the majority of my 17 years with Northeast ISD, I have taught 8th grade pre-Algebra, Algebra I, both pre-AP and GT. I have also supervised an Independent Study for 8th grade Geometry students. I enjoy serving as the 8th grade KSAT Algebra I teacher because our program is a project-based curriculum and students are held to a high level academic standard. I know that together we can accomplish great things!
