Mascot Information

Lady Bird Johnson High School accepted mascot suggestions between September 17 and October 19, 2007.  Following campus wide announcements to students, suggestion forms were provided by the front offices at Bulverde Creek Elementary, Encino Park Elementary, Roan Forest Elementary, Tejeda Middle, Ronald Reagan High and MacArthur High Schools.  Downloadable suggestion forms were also posted to the Lady Bird Johnson High School web site for all other schools and community members to access.  Additionally, suggestions were accepted through e-mail to the school principal.  Suggestions were accepted from families and community members who lived outside the potential Lady Bird Johnson High School attendance zone.

During the suggestion period, 591 suggestions containing 100 potential mascot names were submitted.  Over the course of two meetings, held on October 11 and November 1, 2007, a mascot committee of potential future Lady Bird Johnson High School students and parents met to review and narrow the field of suggestions.   Presentations related to those meetings, the committee's guidelines, and the committee's decisions are available below.   The suggestions on the official Mascot Ballot (sample also available below) represented the only names still under consideration for the Lady Bird Johnson High School mascot at the time of the student vote.

Although students and families outside the potential Lady Bird Johnson High School attendance zone were invited to submit mascot suggestions, only current NEISD K-12 students living within the Board adopted Lady Bird Johnson High School attendance zone (which was determined at the November 12 meeting of the Board of Trustees) were able to cast a ballot.  Parents did not cast a ballot.

Accordingly, the following students were eligible to cast a Lady Bird Johnson High School mascot ballot between Tuesday, November 13, 2007 and Thursday, November 15, 2007:

  • All students attending Bulverde Creek Elementary, Encino Park Elementary, Roan Forest Elementary, and Tejeda Middle Schools
  • Some students attending Canyon Ridge Elementary and Bush Middle Schools
  • Some students attending Ronald Reagan High and MacArthur High Schools

Results of the vote were posted to the Lady Bird Johnson High School website Monday, November 26, 2007:
