Where is Lady Bird Johnson High School located?
The school's address is 23203 Bulverde Road, San Antonio, Texas 78259. It is located on the southwest corner of the intersection of Bulverde Road and the new Stone Oak Parkway extension (across from Cibolo Canyons neighborhood).

When did the new high school open?
Lady Bird Johnson High School opened for the first day of the 2008 school year on August 28th.

How was the school's name chosen?
On July 11, 2005, the North East Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name its newest high school Claudia Taylor 'Lady Bird' Johnson High School, which is the campus' official name and will be used on letterhead and other formal documents. This decision was made after receiving recommendations from a school naming committee composed of future students and parents.

The school is also often referred to by North East staff and members of the community as Johnson High School, Lady Bird Johnson High School and, simply, Lady Bird.  It is important to note the school is purposefully not adopting "LBJ" as a reference to the campus and, when using initials, will instead use "CTJ". Our use of "CTJ" is intended to help separate our school's identity from the various other "LBJ" High Schools in Texas named for Lady Bird's husband, President Lyndon Baines Johnson.

What are the school colors?
The school colors are Columbia Blue, Navy, and Silver .  For an example of the color scheme, click here

What is the school mascot?
The Lady Bird Johnson High School mascot is the Jaguar. Johnson Jaguars was selected in November, 2007 after an extended process in which suggestions were accepted from the general public, a committee of students and parents reviewed and narrowed the field of suggested mascots to a ballot of three finalists, and student vote determined the final decision.   More information about the mascot process, the committee's decisions, and the vote can be found by clicking here.

How does traffic flow in and out of the school?
The campus will have entrances on Stone Oak Parkway and Bulverde Road.
Families with easy access to U.S. Highway 281 are encouraged to use the highway and the Stone Oak Parkway extension.  This will help to relieve the already congested traffic flow along Bulverde Road.  Families along Bulverde or Evans Roads can use the Bulverde Road entrance.

Will improvements be made to Bulverde Road?
The City of San Antonio passed a bond package that includes improvement of Bulverde Road from Loop 1604 to Evans Road. The District has also been communicating with Bexar County about a plan to continue the improvements north of Evans Road to Marshall Road. At this time, it looks like additional lanes will be added to Bulverde Road in the near future.

What factors and processes were used to determine the Johnson High School attendance zone?
Although many factors are used in considering and determining school attendance zones and each boundary decision has a unique set of circumstances, the Board of Trustees has established Planning Goals and Assumptions that help guide attendance boundary recommendations.

Regarding the Lady Bird Johnson High School attendance zone, the Board of Trustees weighed two primary considerations:

  • To establish an attendance zone that sustains boundaries and appropriately plans for rapid growth in the region north of 1604.
  • To provide attendance relief for Reagan High School, which is currently well over 3,000 students.

In September, 2007, Superintendent Dr. Richard A. Middleton met with a small group of parents who provided input to the district and identified some concerns about the Johnson and Reagan attendance areas. These focus group meetings helped the District formulate boundary proposals for public consideration.

Three boundary proposals were discussed during a public meeting held on October 3, 2007 at Reagan High School and two additional proposals were discussed during another public meeting at Reagan High School on October 17, 2007.  The community was able provide input at both meetings.  The proposals were also posted to the District’s website and the community was invited to review the plans and provide feedback by e-mail at boundaries@neisd.net.
Following a period of public input and review, the attendance zone for Lady Bird Johnson High School was adopted by the North East Board of Trustees on November 12, 2007.

How is bus service to Johnson High School determined?
The District policy regarding the availability of bus service applies at Johnson High School.  Specifically, transportation is available for children who live two miles or more from their assigned school. The distance a student lives from their assigned school is measured using the shortest route that may be traveled on publicly maintained roads between the entrance to the campus and the property line of the student's legal residence.  Students residing within two miles of their assigned school may have transportation available if their neighborhood qualifies as hazardous under the district's hazardous transportation rating system.  More information about NEISD Transportation can be found by clicking here.
