The Ian Fincke Project
Early in the 08-09 school year, our community lost one of our wonderful students to a long boarding accident with a subsequent fatal head injury. Ian had attended Reagan for 2 years and was currently a student at Johnson High School. We would not only like to give our condolences to his family, but with their permission, we would like to reemphasize the need to wear helmets with many "wheeled" activities and give you a little information on the dangers of long boarding. Many of Ian's friends have banded together and formed a team of students who will be talking to younger children in Reagan and Johnson areas. Students will be asked to take Ian's Pledge, stating that they will wear required safety gear.
Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
An AED is a computerized device that can check a person's heart rhythm, recognize a rhythm that requires a shock and deliver the needed shock. We have 6 AED's on our campus and they are accessable and easy to use. Johnson's are located in the foyers of the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floors; the auditorium lobby; adjacent to the trainers' office; and the gym lobby.
