We are 6 weeks into the 2015-2016 school year and throughout this time our teachers have been attentively working with your child. We will be sending home the 6 weeks progress reports beginning October 2nd, so please make sure you sign and return the report to the teacher. Within this month, our teachers will be assessing your child in the core content areas and preparing for the parent-teacher conferences in November. During this time, our teachers will be discussing your child’s progress.
The green communication folder is an excellent source of information. We ask that you check your child’s backpack daily for homework, classwork, or letters from our teachers. You are your child’s first teacher and making time to establish routines at home is essential to support their education. We thank you in advance for assisting them with their homework, asking the teachers for help if the homework is too challenging, and most importantly making time to hear your child read. Every child should be reading on a nightly basis to support their reading level. You are more than welcome to visit our school library and check out books for your home. An id# will be issued to you as a parent and you can utlize this number to check out books in the North East digital collection. Our school librarian, Mrs. Darilek, will be happy to assist you in providing step by step instructions on how to check our the digital books. The students are excited about having books online to read!
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are getting excited about reading the new Texas Bluebonnet books! Any student reading at least 5 Bluebonnets (and completing the online Google form found on the library homepage) will get to attend our Bluebonnet voting party in January. Read 10 and get a free book from Mrs. Darilek. See you at the party in January!
Thank you for being an integral part in your child’s life and for supporing our school.
