Club
| The Art Club
involves students in projects that enhance the school's
appearance and promote school functions. Activities include
creating decorations, posters and banners for school functions,
drawing pictures for the literary magazine, painting murals,
etc. Art Club members participate in many contests to help
promote art and help others in the community. |

Professionals of America
| Business
Professionals of America is a national youth organization that
promotes leadership and business skills. Students participate in
community projects, field trips, and attend meetings. |

Club
| Debate
Club is for the student who enjoys researching and arguing a
particular current issue in a competitive setting. |

Any student. Must be passing all subjects to participate in

Club
| Earth Club educates
and promotes environmental awareness through a variety of projects
that support the 3 R's of environmental awareness -- Reduce,
Reuse, and Recycle. Projects include campus beautification,
planting flowers, and paper recycling program. |

Optimist Club
| The purpose of the
Junior Optimist Club is to serve the community while learning to
become responsible leaders and citizens. Each month the club
chooses one community service project. |

Counts
| Do you enjoy using
logic and reasoning to solve math problems? Math Counts is a great
opportunity to enhance your math skills, to work with an energetic
team of middle school students, and to compete at various math
meets. |

National
Junior Honor Society
| NJHS is a
national recognition program for seventh and eighth grade students
emphasizing scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and
character. NJHS members help the school and community through a
variety of service
projects. |
| Qualifications: 7th
or 8th grader who has been at Jackson at least one semester, has
and maintains a cumulative scholastic average of at least 90%,
maintains good citizenship, and has been
evaluated by the faculty council. 7th and 8th graders are notified
of academic eligibility in January.

Renaissance
| Renaissance is a
school-wide reward program that recognizes hard working students for excellence in education. Student achievement is
based on good grades and conduct. |
| Qualifications: Any
student who is passing
all classes, has no U's in conduct, and no office referrals resulting in
suspension, ISS, or after school detention. |

| Students in speech
and drama practice their speaking and acting skills in order to
perform in plays, theater festivals, and drama festivals. |

Student
Council
| Student Council, by
nature, is an organization committed to representing the majority
views of the student body. At the same time, our council invests
large amounts of its resources to improving the daily life of all
students attending JMS. In essence, our community is looking for
upstanding students who are willing to invest their time in
helping make this school better for everyone. |
| Qualifications:
Student representatives are elected in every Advisory class. |

UIL
| Practice
to compete against other middle school students in several
disciplines (i.e., map skills, dictionary skills, number sense,
spelling, and many others. |
| Qualifications: Any
student. Must be passing all classes for competition. |

Yearbook
| This class takes
picture and writes the text for all pages of the yearbook.
Students will attend all sports and school events and edit their
information into a yearbook format. |
| Qualifications: 8th
Grade students must be able to stay after school to attend events.
Students must be passing all classes, no U's in conduct, no office
referrals resulting in ISS or suspension. |
