COMMUNITY SERVICE For the Junior year you will be required to create a community service portfolio documenting your community service since you have been a student at ISA along with a reflection; hence there will be two parts to your portfolio. The following information should be documented in your portfolio by April 14. Community service is the act of community service itself; it is giving back to the community with no compensation. (no practice, rehearsals or classes) Part I. Documentation of Community Service Hours (50%)
Up to 30 (thirty) hours of the total 120 hours (you need by senior year) can be performance involvement. Other service opportunities include: School team community service projects, Culture Fair Service to school – tutoring, janitorial work, (does not include teacher aid periods) NHS, SHS, Interact, church related community service, or other service organizations you might be involved in (exam: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity, Samm Shelter, Salvation Army, Food Under the Bridge, City Heroes, etc.) Part II. Community Service Reflection (50%) Think about the community service you have experienced so far and write a reflection answering the questions below:
This essay should not be a summary of each and every one of your experiences, but it should reveal critical reflection of the effects of your community experiences. Your essay will be a minimum of 750 words, typed, 12-point font, essentially error free with few, if any spelling, grammar, or typographical errors.
