 Holidays/celebrations:

In San Antonio we celebrate Battle of flowers. The battle of Flowers is held each year on April 21 it is a 10 day celebration. We celebrate it in memory of the fallen heroes at the Alamo and to remember the battle of San Jacinto, were Texas won its independents from Mexico.

By 1895 the parade developed into a weeklong celebration called fiesta San Antonio. In 1901 the parade features spectacular flower-covered floats with participants costumes. The event attracts crowds of more than 350,000 people.

Sandra Cisneros is one of San Antonio's authors. She has written many books like... House on Mango Street, Woman Hollering Creek and other stories, Caramelo and  Hairs/Pelitos.

Food:

We eat many kids of food from all different cultures. Italian, Chinese, Japanese, Greek, and Mexican. Mexican food is the most popular of them all, partly because San Antonio community is Hispanic.

We eat foods like...enchiladas, tacos, pinto beans, and more.

Traditions:

In san Antonio when a girl turns 15 they have a quincenerra or a sweet 15. It is a coming out ceremony. It shows that the girl is a young woman. We  also have a rodeo. People from allover Texas come to perform. They ride horses bulls, and sing songs. There are carnivals and contests for the best live stock.
