Welcome to the official website of MUNSA XVI, the largest high school run Model United Nations conference held in the western United States. MUNSA is hosted by The International School of the Americas, a public magnet school in the North East Independent School District. On November 30th through December 2nd, 2011, MUNSA will welcome over 700 delegates to the El Tropicano Hotel in downtown San Antonio. Topics of debate will range from ‘Discussing methods to promote environmentally conscious lifestyles in developing nations’ to ‘Promoting domestic incentives to prevent the out-migration of intellectual and technical personnel from less developed nations to more developed nations’. This year, MUNSA has assumed the theme of population and is implementing this theme into every committee room that will be hosted at the conference. Delegates will be asked to look at the implications of a growing population, a global population that will reach 7 billion by this December.
MUNSA XVI: Legacy
This year’s theme for the Model United Nations San Antonio will be Legacy. The global population is estimated to reach 7 billion in December of 2011, and as members of the global community, delegates at MUNSA XVI will investigate the legacies that past generations have left us in order to determine what legacy our generation, the Net Generation, will provide for the future. This year’s committee rooms feature topics highlighting the implications of a global population of 7 billion. By investigating the global problems associated with population, delegates will be molding the Legacy that our generation leaves.
