Complete a video/commercial advertising a post high school opportunity.

Project Checkpoints
  • Checkpoint 1 – April 15th
  • Checkpoint 2 - May 6th
  • Final Project - May 22nd

English

Students will research their career choice and study the use of propaganda and media. Checkpoint 1 – Students will prepare a research report for their career choice. Checkpoint 2 – Students will identify and practice propaganda in media and use propaganda in their video.

Social Studies

Students will research the change in men’s and women’s roles in the career world. Checkpoint 1 - Students will select a topic and submit questions in outline form that they will use during their research. Checkpoint 2 - Students will conduct research on career role changes and submit research notes for their project.

Math

Students will create a mock lifestyle based on career choices. Checkpoint 1 - Students will gather information on salaries and other relevant information based on a career of their choice. Checkpoint 2 - The students will apply their gathered information and create a budget based on the lifestyle that they would live in their chosen careers and apply it to the commercial.

Science

Students will make predictions about jobs that will become available in the future as technology advances and the world changes. Checkpoint 1 - Students will research growth areas in science and technology and submit a brief description of a career that they think will become available during their lifetime. Checkpoint 2 - Students will write a report detailing aspects of their “invented career” including education requirements.

Technology

Students will plan a video of the commercial, building on the four main components they learned in each class. Checkpoint 1 - Students will create a storyboard for the commercial, which will help plan and organize the video. Checkpoint 2 - Students will complete all videotaping for the commercial and prepare for final editing.
