Message from the Assistant Principal
Mrs. Estlack received her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in math from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and her master’s degree in School Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Estlack began her teaching career in North East I.S.D. at Montgomery Drive Elementary. After five years at Montgomery, she transferred to re-open Serna Elementary.
While at Serna she collaborated with other teachers to create, implement and present five units of study at the National Core Knowledge Conference in Baltimore, Maryland, Denver, Colorado, Atlanta, Georgia, and Orlando, Florida. Three of these units were honored as award winning "Best of the Best" and are published on the Core Knowledge National Conferences, 1995-2000 CD and are also available on-line at www.coreknowledge.org. During this time she also served as a Core Knowledge Foundation Consultant, traveling to many states, including Arkansas, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas, aiding campuses in the implementation and unit writing for Core Knowledge.
She has been honored by being elected Teacher of the Year and Trinity Prize for Excellence in Teaching nominee for Serna Elementary. Mrs. Estlack was honored as the Toyota Teacher of the Game for the San Antonio Spurs. She has also received numerous Superintendent’s Awards.
She served as assistant principal at Oak Grove Elementary and Roan Forest Elementary in NEISD. In 2007, Mrs. Estlack was appointed to Huebner Road Elementary as assistant principal.
