Makerspace - What is that?

Huebner Elementary School will add a Makerspace to their special class rotation with P.E., music, and art this year.

The Makerspace will provide a creative outlet for all students at Huebner and will be based on STEAM principles including science, technology, engineering, art and math. Students will be able to explore, create and solve challenges with new materials including Legos, K'Nex, Snap Circuits, Littlebits and different robotic components.

GT Teacher Daryn Polanco and Librarian Natalie Watts have been working hard on the lesson plans and creative challenges for the space.

The Makerspace was created with donations from the community and grants from the North East Educational Foundation. The campus hopes to continue collecting new materials. Donations of any art or craft supplies, Lego building materials, and craft store gift cards are greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off in the library at any time.

Registration for all grade levels begins Monday, August 3rd. Registration information can be found at https://portal.neisd.net/OnlineRegistration/default.aspx.
