Art Instructional Assistant - Gretta Johnson The goal of the Hidden
Forest Classroom Arts Program is to provide each student the opportunity to use
his or her creative skills in a structured environment. Students will explore
and express their ideas in new and exciting ways. Different elements and
principles of art are introduced to students at each grade level to help them
understand how to put together a successful work of art. They discover famous
artists and their unique styles, as well as many different types of art. Also,
individual teachers consistently incorporate art into their curriculum. Students visit the campus art teacher
during the week and explore the visual arts in theory and practice. A NEISD
district art teacher visits classes throughout the year to reinforce the
district’s fine arts curriculum. The National PTA sponsors an annual art competition, REFLECTIONS, open to all students in North East schools. The contest challenges children to use their talents in the Arts to create something in any medium to express a particular theme. Art a la Carte offers an all-day, roll-up-your-sleeves art experience on campus that is enjoyed by students in every grade. The Young Masters Art Show, held each spring, showcases the work of selected students from Hidden Forest and other elementary schools in the North East district, and family and friends are invited to view the works in a gallery setting at Blossom Center. Parents, visit the PTA Page if you would like to help with any of these programs. When on the Hidden Forest campus, be on the lookout for the exciting variety and depth of student talent displayed on our "gallery" walls.
