PTA Volunteer Descriptions

You’ll find many opportunities to get involved at Hidden Forest and make a difference in the life of a child. The extra bonus…your child will love seeing you at school! Here are some PTA volunteer opportunities. Please contact our PTA President at hiddenforestpta@gmail.com with any questions on how to get involved!

Library- Our librarian needs volunteers who have 30 minutes to an hour each week to assist with shelving books. Opportunities are also available to assist with our annual Book Fair and Visiting Author program.

Grounds- The Grounds Committee maintains the entry flower beds, the marquee bed and any newly planted trees. Even if you don’t have a green thumb, we need your help. A great way to help out at the school anytime!

SAM Committee- The Spanish/Arts/Music Committee assists the Spanish, Art and Music teachers with day-to-day needs as well as special events. If you can help enrich these programs with your talents, we need your help!

Bike Rodeo- Held in October, this is an exciting event where our students show off their bike skills. We need lots of volunteers to guide the students on their route, keep riders in order, tally points, pass out ribbons, etc. Volunteer all morning or for just a few hours.

Fun in the Forest- Held in May, this fun-filled event gives the students a chance to celebrate the end of school in the great outdoors. Many volunteers are needed to set-up, facilitate games, and clean up. Volunteer all day or for a few hours!

Art a la Carte- We are looking for volunteers to help enrich the arts in “The Forest”. This annual event allows students to be creative in a variety of different art projects using different mediums. Work a booth, create an art project for the students to duplicate, or collect art material.

Reflections- All Hidden Forest students are encouraged to participate in this District wide art program. Although awards are given for creativity and artistic expression, the goal of this program is to expose students to the arts through participation. Volunteers are needed to sort and judge Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, and Music entries.

HEALS- Health Education Awareness Learning and Service helps our students stay up-to-date on the latest in good health. Help the school Nurse screen students’ vision, teeth, weight, and height. Assist the Chairperson with our bi-annual Health Fair.

ADEPT- Alcohol, Drug, Education, Prevention and Training. If you interested in helping plan activities for our annual Red Ribbon Week promoting a drug free lifestyle, then please sign up to help. Daily activities are planned during a full week in October.

Responsibilities of a Homeroom Parent

  • Collect and keep on record all "Parent Information Sheets" that have been given to you.
  • Keep a periodic check on student enrollments and withdrawals within your class to keep your reference sheet up to date.
  • Sign in and out of the Volunteer Log Book in the front lobby and wear your name tag at all times when you visit the school. Also, don't forget to track your volunteer hours for PTA.
  • Homeroom Parents may be asked to assist with other activities during the school year, such as fund raising, field day, etc. Involve all parents in the events and activities for your class.
  • ANY written information that is to be distributed to parents MUST be approved by Mrs. Jessop prior to distribution.
  • Only two parties will be held for students during the school year during classroom hours: The Holiday party on the last day before December Holidays, and a Valentine's Day party on the Friday closest to February 14.
  • Homeroom Parents will coordinate all activities for the party with the Teacher Coordinator three weeks prior to the day. All classes within a grade level will have the same type of refreshment and activities. PTA has voted not to allow favors at school parties. And, please leave pre-school children at home during parties!
