Well, we are back in the full swing of things in PTA! We had our first Executive Board Meeting on 2012 this week, and are hard at work getting all of our Spring activities planned. Some of the things coming up in the Spring are the class Valentine's Parties, the NEISD Used Book Sale, and Art a la Carte to name a few. Our Box Tops for Education is underway again as well. Please see the following from our Box Tops Chairperson, Carole Tubbesing: Hope you have been clipping Box Tops over the holidays because our Winter Box Tops Drive will run from Tuesday, Jan. 17, through Friday, Feb. 17. Please send your clipped box tops in baggies or envelopes labelled with your childs' name and his/her teachers' name, and deposit them in the "Box Tops" box by the front office. We will be having another competition between the classes to see which class can bring in the most Box Tops. Our Fall Box Tops drive netted over $1500 for our school, so please encourage and help your child to participate! Be sure to check out the attachment for an opportunity to earn 70 bonus Box Tops from HEB (available from 1/18-1/31)! Also, please see the following information from our Special Education Chairperson, Ginger Lambert: Canyon Ridge Elementary School would like to extend an invitation to our neighbors at Wilderness Oak, Stone Oak, Hidden Forest, Hardy Oak and Tuscany Heights Elementary Schools to attend our monthlyspecial education breakfast meeting for parents. Our topic this month presented by Occupational Therapist, Elizabeth Marsh, OTR-L, MS, MOT of Pediatric Therapy Specialists is “Easy Solutions for Sensory Processing Difficulties”. Elizabeth will give a brief description of sensory integration disorder, identify red-flags of sensory issues and give solutions and activities to help your child organize and interpret their senses.
