PTA News

Hello Hidden Forest Families,

Thank you to Dana Schwierking for all her hard work on the NE Used Book Sale and to everyone who volunteered at the NE Used Book Sale this past weekend.  Congratulations to the following classes for bringing in the most books:
1st Mrs. Patteson
2nd Mrs. Kueger
3rd Mrs. Drash

Thanks to everyone that brought in books because 3,046 books were all waiting at the Littleton Gym for someone to buy. YEAH!
A big Thanks to Bridget Kitrell our Garden Chair and everyone that helped her cleanup the Gardens on this past Sunday.

Up coming Events:
News from our Art a la Carte Chairs; Liz Worley & Meredith Hanna:
Art a la Carte is fast approaching! It’s Friday, April 19, and as you may know, this PTA event requires a lot of parent help to pull off.
This year’s Art a la Carte theme is RE-Art (for recycled art). The kids will have three terrific projects to work on:

  1. Wood sculptures. The kids have been creating wood sculptures from scraps, a la Louise Nevelson, during art class for the past week or two. On the day of AALC, they’ll get those sculptures back and paint them.
  2. Bottle cap necklaces or magnets. Kids will decorate bottle caps with sequins, pom-poms, stickers, etc. They can either make a necklace from their creation, a bracelet, or a backpack dangly.
  3. Rain sticks. Kids will make a rain stick from a sturdy cardboard tube by pouring gravel into a tube already prepped with chicken wire. Then they’ll decorate the outside of the stick.

If you’re available to help during a three-hour shift, please email Liz Worley at lworley@satx.rr.com. Grades 3-5 will be going through Art a la Carte between 8:00-11:15. Grades K-2 will be the afternoon shift, from 11:45-2:40. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!

We’ll be working with washable paint, glue, glitter, and other fun stuff! So please remember to send your student to school that day in clothes that it’s OK to get a little dirty!

Thank you for your time,
Andrea Sharp
