PTA
Officers
The
Elected Officers of the Hidden Forest PTA are the President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer. The Parliamentarian and
the Historian are appointed officers. The Executive Board consists
of the officers, the chairmen of the standing committees and the
principal of the school.
The
President presides at meetings of the general membership and
the Executive Board and is an ex-officio member of all committees,
except nominating and audit. The president appoints chairmen of
standing and special committees, helps to coordinate the work of
the officers and chairmen, and promotes the objectives and
policies of PTA at all times.
The Vice President
acts as the right hand to the president (and presides in the
absence of the president) prepares procedure book materials for
committee chairmen, and coordinates the school welcome packet
distribution and collection.
Second Vice President acts
as Ways and Means Chairperson responsible for all PTA revenue
generating committees.
Third Vice President functions as the
Volunteer Coordinator providing information and support for campus
volunteers. Works with campus administrators to insure compliance with the
district Department of Public Safety Security requirement.

The Secretary keeps
the minutes of all meetings, prepares the roster of the executive
board, and conducts the correspondence of the organization.
The
Treasurer has custody of funds, keeps a full and accurate
account of these funds, and pays out funds according to the budget
adopted by the association. S/he submits a written report at each
board and general meeting and submits books to the audit
committee. The Treasurer is the chairman of the Budget and Finance
Committee and is a member of the ways and means committee.
T he Parliamentarian
serves as an advisor to the presiding officer on questions of
parliamentary law and matters of procedure.
The
Historian is the custodian of all records and materials
pertaining to the history of the unit, keeps a record of current
activities in the form of an annual history, and acts in the
capacity of Publicity Chairman.

PTA
Communications
Council Delegates & Alternate
Delegates attend the District PTA
Council meetings and report to the Hidden Forest PTA Board as needed. The
alternate is available to take the place of a Delegate.
Directory
The Directory Chairman creates the
student telephone directory, organizes the art competition for the
directory and compiles and distributes orders.
Legislation
The Chairman attends the NEISD
School Board
Meetings and reports to the membership on relevant issues
and keeps local unit membership aware of the legislative process
and pending legislative action.
Lunchroom
The Lunchroom Chairman eats
breakfast and lunch at the Hidden Forest cafeteria monthly and
reports findings and suggestions to the district lunchroom
program.

Membership
The Membership Chairman and
committee members organize the PTA Membership Drive and welcome
new families to our school.
Newsletter
The Newsletter Chairman and
committee members gather news and advertising, write, publish and
distribute The Falconer newsletter six times each school year.
Web Site Coordinator
The Coordinator and committee members collect timely updates from
teachers, staff and students for the web
site. Calendars, campus activities, special projects, art and
writing showcase, and news
will be featured in the continually evolving website. Extensive
links to NEISD programs and information are included.

PTA
Courtesy and Recognition
5th Grade Events
This Event Chairman and committee organize the spring Bake
Sale, and plan the 5th grade End of Year Party.
Hospitality
The Hospitality Chairman and committee organize the Donuts for
Dads and Munchies for Moms school events, and welcome PTA members
to the General Meetings. Hospitality may serve refreshments at PTA
Board meetings and may occasionally be asked for special event
assistance.
Life Membership
The Chairman and Selection Committee are responsible for
reviewing the nominees for Life Membership and awarding that
honor. They are also responsible for the local unit
responsibilities for the district Founder’s Day Banquet, such as
reservations and table decorations.
Staff Appreciation
The Staff Appreciation Chairman and committee plan special
recognition for all faculty and staff of Hidden Forest, including
birthday goodies, lunches, holiday treats and a special Staff
Appreciation Week celebration.

Educational Programs
Arts in Education
The Arts in Education Chairman and committee promote a variety
of arts experiences for students. These include the organization
of classroom art activities, such as Arts Teach; art gallery
display on campus, and the NEISD Young Masters show display; the
National PTA REFLECTIONS competition; and the hands on art
adventure on campus, Art a la Carte.
Green Team
The Green Team Chairman and committee provide classroom and
garden education and hands on experience. They sponsor the Green
Team After School Club, the school recycling program and the
TRASHBUSTERS trash free lunch program.
HEALS
Health Education Awareness Learning and Services (HEALS)
Chairman and committee plan the Family Health Fair which is
scheduled every other year. Committee activities also include
issuing current Health Education Information, sponsoring Nurses
Appreciation Week and the ‘Bears for Kids in Crisis’ Program.
ADEPT
The Alcohol and Drug Education, Prevention and Training
(ADEPT) Chairman and committee plans activities to promote
awareness among students and families during Red Ribbon
Week, and
may plan other activities throughout the year.

Library & Reading Events
The Chairman, committee and school librarian arrange for a
Visiting Author each year. Committee activities also include a
reading event week to promote reading for pleasure.
Outdoor Events
This Chairman and committee plan the annual Bike Rodeo in the
fall and Fun in the Forest in the spring.
Parent Education
This Chairman and committee provide educational programs and
speakers throughout the year based on parent input. They maintain
an extensive Parent Resource Library with materials available to
anyone who wishes to check them out. The committee also maintains
a variety of Special Education resources and special interest
information. See Family Resources.
Science Education
The Science Education Chairman and committee coordinate the
Science Lab Parent Assistants program and act as liaison to the
Teachers Science Committee for the Family Math and Science Night.

Banking
The Banking Chairman and committee promote and staff the
student Bank Deposit Days and may plan student banking education.
PTA
Service Programs
Dads Club
This Chairman and his committee plan monthly Dad’s Club meetings
and invite all dads to join them. They participate in special
projects including the Hidden Forest Neighborhood Fall Festival
Dads' BBQ Booth, Munchies for Moms, and Fun in the Forest. Dads
get their own day, too, when they take the kids to school and
enjoy Donuts for Dads each fall. They will serve, too, at Muffins For Moms in the
spring.
Grounds
The Grounds Chairman and committee evaluate the condition of the
playground equipment, marquee and other structures on our school
grounds and make improvements as needed. Committee work also
includes maintaining the campus flower beds and watering trees.
Safety Patrols
The Safety Patrols Chairman and committee evaluate the patrol
equipment and make improvements as needed, provide snacks at the
training meetings, organize participation in the annual district
safety patrol assembly and organize an end of the year party.
School Volunteers
The Chairman and committee
plan the Fall Volunteer Tea, provide training for new volunteers
and assist in obtaining district required paperwork for
volunteers, and coordinate the Homeroom Parents. Volunteers also provide a duplicating team,
create nametags and track the Volunteer Hours as required by the
district.

PTA
Ways & Means
The Ways & Means Chairman
and committee plan fund raisers in order to meet the financial
goals established by the committees in the annual PTA budget. PTA
fund raisers include the Fall Fund Raiser, sales of T-shirts,
spirit merchandise and Back-to-School Supplies, the Hidden Forest
Neighborhood Fall Festival and the Science Materials Sale.
In addition to these PTA fund
raisers, this committee communicates required information about
community fund raisers that benefit the school and help offset
budget expenses, such as programs with Campbell’s Soup Labels,
AT&T, Target, Champion Paper Co. Recycling and the local Cici’s
Pizza. Money raised through these programs helps such needed items
as computer software or special educational programs.
