Harris Believe It Or Not Fair

 

On Thursday, May 17th, you are invited to attend the Harris Believe It Or Not Fair. Come visit the walk through museum of exhibits created by 6th and 7th grade ACL students. The exhibits feature creatures and phenomenon which will guide visitors through the process of information acquisition, synthesis, and evaluation. Will you believe? Event will be held in 6th Grade CLC. Admission is free. Please park in the back lot and enter through the CLC door.

 

 

Academic Award Breakfasts

 

On Friday, May 18th Harris Middle School will be hosting breakfasts to celebrate achievement by students during the 4th nine-weeks. One parent of the invited students may accompany them to the gatherings that begin at 7:30am. The 6th grade breakfast is in the Art Room, 7th grade in the 7th grade CLC, and 8th in room D202.

 

 

Wellness Wednesdays at Harris

 

For the last time this year, Wednesday, May 16th at 7:30am, students, parents and staff are invited to walk around the Harris track in order to stay fit and keep active. As they walk (or run) students have the opportunity to win awards and prizes. For more information or to buy your own Harris Wellness t-shirt for $10, please contact Mrs. Fox.

 

 

8th Grade Trip Rescheduled

 

The rain in our area has forced the 8th grade trip to TimeWarner Park to be rescheduled. The trip will now take place on Monday, May 14th. All other travel arrangements will remain the same as previously scheduled.

 

 

Harris Garden Celebration

 

On Tuesday, May 8th Harris Middle School will honor supporters and contributors to the Harris Garden who have made it possible to have this creative outdoor learning environment. After honoring the guests, visitors will have a chance to take a tour of the garden, enjoy refreshments, and listen to entertainment from the Harris Jazz Band. "Oz" - Harris Pop Show

 

On Thursday, May 3 and Friday, May 4 the Harris Choir department will present their production of "Oz" to the community. Show time is 7pm in the Harris cafeteria for both performances. Tickets can be bought in advance for $4 or at the door for $5. Please contact Mr. Eric Contreras for more information.

 

8th Grade Award Celebration

 

On Wednesday, May 2nd Harris Middle School will celebrate the accomplishments of this year's 8th grade students with an award ceremony. Family and friends of those receiving awards are invited to the ceremony which begins in the cafeteria at 6:00pm.

 

 

Harris Clash of the Titles Champions

 

Congratulations to The Paranormals for winning the Harris Clash of the Titles on April 12th. The Clash of the Titles is a quiz contest over 12 Lone Star Award winning books. Shannon, Michaela, Nimbe, and Sara defeated Team Tatanka in five rounds to take the campus title. The team will move on to the district competition on May 10th.

 

 

Battle of Flowers Holiday

 

Friday, April 27th is a student and staff holiday at Harris Middle School in honor of the Battle of Flowers Parade. School will resume as normal on Monday, April 30th. Viva Fiesta!!!

 

 

STAAR Testing at Harris

 

Students will once again be taking the STAAR test at Harris Middle School. On Monday, April 23, the 8th grade students will be taking the STAAR Social Studies exam. Tuesday, April 24 will have the 6th and 7th graders taking the Mathematics exam. On Wednesday, April 25 the 6th and 7th grade students will be completing the Reading exam. The 8th graders will test again on Thursday, April 26th to complete the STAAR Science test. Parents are asked to make sure that their students are on time to school and get good rest and meals for the testing days.

 

 

YouthFire Sock Collection

 

Harris Middle School’s YouthFire Club will be collecting unopened socks and new or barely used journals for a Haitian orphanage through Friday, April 20.  Many journals have been collected, but socks are still greatly needed. Please place items in the green baskets by the front desk.  See Ms. Stewart or a YouthFire member for more information.

 

 

Rise Up to Report Bullying Online

 

If you or your student is a victim of, or witnesses bullying on the Harris campus, you now have a new tool to report the incident. You can now click on the "Rise Up Against Bullying" button under the Stay Connected banner to anonymously report any instance of bullying. After answering a few questions and submitting online form, the information is sent to campus administration. Help us to "Rise Up" against bullies.

 

Miss Windwehen wins Excellence in Education Award

 

Recently, Harris Middle School's own Miss Loryn Windwehen won the Excellence in Education Award sponsored by H-E-B. Besides winning a cash award for herself, Ms. Windwehen won $1000 for the campus and the chance at winning larger prizes at the statewide level. Congratulations Ms. Windwehen! April 6th School Holiday

 

On Friday, April 6th students and staff of Harris Middle School will enjoy a school holiday. We hope you have a restful and safe long, holiday weekend. School will resume as normal on Monday, April 9th.

 

 

3rd Nine Weeks Report Cards

 

Report cards for the 3rd Nine Week period went home with students on Friday, March 23rd. Parents, please review the report card and sign the bottom portion to send back to school with your student.

 

 

STAAR Testing on the Harris Campus

 

Harris 7th and 8th grade students will be taking STAAR exams on Tuesday, March 27th and Wednesday, March 28th. It is suggested that students get plenty of rest and be to school on time for these school days. Lunch times will also be affected due to a modified schedule on these days; 7th graders will eat at 1:30pm and 8th graders will eat at 1:00pm.

 

 

Childrens' Shelter Collection

 

The Harris Spanish Club is once again sponsoring a collection to benefit the San Antonio Childrens' Shelter. Many items are needed at the shelter including gently used clothing and toys. The collection will run through Friday, March 23rd. Please contact Mrs. Candelaria for more more information.

 

 

Harris PALS, Helpers of Man's Best Friends

 

The Harris Middle School PAL class sponsored a donation drive called "Fill the Cage". The generous students, faculty, and staff filled a large pet training kennel with items for the Animal Defense League. Donations included pet food, pet toys, newspapers, baby wipes, hand sanitizer, and blankets. The 8th period class that donated the most items received an ice cream party. A representative from the Animal Defense League picked up the cage and brought an animal that will be helped by the donated items.

 

 

Student Council Holiday Basket Donation

 

On Friday, March 2, the Harris Student Council assembled 100 holiday baskets for the San Antonio Children's Shelter. The Student Council purchased all the items for the baskets with money earned from their Valentine's Day carnation sales. The completed baskets are on display in the 6th grade hallway until Friday, March 23rd.

 

 

Spring Break Holidays

 

The students and staff of Harris Middle School will celebrate the Spring Break holidays Monday, March 12th through Friday, March 16th. School will resume as normal on Monday, March 19th. Have a safe and relaxing Spring Break!

 

 

Harris Family Festival and Wellness Fair

 

On Saturday, March 3, the Harris Wellness Group is sponsoring the First Annual Harris Family Festival and Wellness Fair. There will be plenty of free, healthy activities for all to take part in, including a mobile rock wall, food sampling, zumba, and martial arts/self defense demonstrations, and a 1.5 Mile Fun Run. Family Curriculum Night

 

On Tuesday, February 28th Harris Middle School is hosting a Family Curriculum Night. The evening begins at 6:30pm in the cafeteria with an overview of the new STAAR test. At 7:00pm parents and students will head to classrooms to participate in curriculum activites for English, Reading and Social Studies. The activities are scheduled to end at 8:00pm. Harris Middle School Has A New Phone Number

 

Beginning on Thursday, February 2nd, Harris Middle School has a new campus phone number. The new phone number is 210-356-4100. The Harris fax number will remain the same, 210-657-8892.

 

 

Valentine's Day Dance at Harris

 

The NJHS is sponsoring a Valentine's Day Dance on Friday, February 17th in the Harris Cafeteria. The dances are 4:00pm-5:30pm for 6th graders and 6:00pm until 7:30pm for 7th/8th graders. Valentine's Carnations will be available for purchase at the dance. Students must have a Harris ID on to enter the dance. Please contact Ms. O'Keefe for more information.

 

 

Faculty Versus Students Volleyball Game

 

The Harris Faculty has challenged the 8th grade Volleyball team to a match on Thursday, February 16th. The game is being held to help support the Harris Wellness Fair that will be held on March 3rd. Spring Picture Day

 

Friday, February 10th is Spring Picture Day on the Harris campus. Picture package information and pricing is going home with students soon. Payment for pictures is due at the time that the portraits are taken.

 

Early Release Days for Parent Conferences

 

Tuesday, February 7th through Thursday, February 9th are early release days at Harris Middle School. School will be dismissed at 1:25pm on these days. The early release schedule allows for more time to hold Parent/Teacher conferences on campus. The school schedule will resume as normal on Friday, February 10th.

 

 

Harris Middle School Recognized by NCEA

 

The National Center for Educational Achievement has named Harris Middle School to the Higher Performing Schools List for 2011. The NCEA analysis revealed that Harris, along with six other NEISD campuses, performed better than predicted. Miss Loryn Windwehen

Miss Windwehen Wins Prestigious ExCEL Award

 

Harris's own Miss Loryn Windwehen was awarded the KENS 5/San Antonio CreditUnion ExCEL Award this week at a ceremony at Harris Middle School. The ExCEL Award was begun 13 years ago to recognize excellence in public education.As part of the presentation, Miss Windwehen received a Golden Apple trophy and a cash prize. Family Movie Night at Harris Library

 

The Harris will have a FREE Family Movie Night on Friday, January 20th. Doors open for the stop motion, animated movie at 5:45 pm, the show starts at 6:00pm. Admission is free and concessions will be for sale. Please contact Mrs. Downen for more information.

 

Harris Presents Annie The Musical

 

The Harris Choir and Theater departments are collaborating to present Annie the Musical. Showtimes are Thursday through Saturday (January 12 - January 14) beginning at 7pm in the Harris Cafeteria. General admission tickets are being presold at Harris Middle School for $5 and VIP seating for $7. Tickets will be available at the door for $7. Concessions will be sold at the show. Contact Mr. E. Martin Luther King Holiday on January 16th

 

The Harris Middle School campus will be closed on Monday, January 16th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, January 17th.

Several representatives of Harris Middle

School were recognized for their extra service for the students and community of North East ISD. Mrs. Herminia Espinoza and the organizers and volunteers of the Harris Fall Festival were recognized by Dr. Gottardy at a ceremony on December 14th.

 

 

 

 

Spanish Club Collects a Ton for Food Bank

 

The Harris Spanish club donated 2,062 pounds of food to the San Antonio Food Bank for the needy families of the San Antonio area. All of the donations were from Harris students, parents and staff. Way to go Hawks!!!

 

 

Winter Holidays for Harris Middle School

 

Harris students and staff will have holidays from school beginning Wednesday, December 21st. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, January 3rd, 2012.

 

 

Harris Basketball Rolls On

 

The Harris Boys and Girls Basketball teams continue with regular season matchups this week against other area middle schools. The Lady Hawks face Jackson MS on Wednesday and the Boys will challenge Bradley on Thursday. The first tip-of is at 4:30 each day. Go Hawks!

 

 

New Traffic Pattern for Dropping Off and Picking Up Students at HMS

 

Parent and school bus traffic around Harris Middle School has begun to travel using a new traffic pattern. Briefly described, the parents that drop off and pick up students do so at the rear of the main building. Buses and faculty only are allowed in the front loop and parking lot. Student Council Hosts Blue Santa Toy Drive

 

Help the Harris Student Council make the holiday season a little brighter for San Antonio children living in poverty by donating a new, unwrapped toy to the Blue Santa Program. Donations are being accepted until Friday, Dec. 9th. All donations benefit the San Antonio Police Department. SAPD will be distributing the toys to needy children in San Antonio neighborhoods during the holidays. Students can bring donations to their 1st period teachers or to the office. Thank you for your support!

 

 

The Harris Orchestra Celebrates the Holidays

 

The Harris Orchestra classes invite you to their holiday concerts on Tuesday, December 6th. The concerts begin at 6:30pm in the Harris Cafeteria and will feature Harris students as well as 5th graders that will be Hawks next year. Join us for some holiday spirit.

 

 

Book Fair Family Night

 

The Scholastic Book Fair is at the Harris Library through Friday, December 2nd. On Thursday, December 1st, the Book Fair will be open until 7:00pm for Family Night. Please contact our Librarian, Mrs. Downen for more information about the book fair or to sign up as a volunteer to help.

Spanish Club Food Drive

 

The Harris Spanish Club is sponsoring a food drive for the San Antonio Food Bank. Please bring in canned goods or other non-perishable food items to help the Spanish Club reach their goal of a 1000 pound donation! Girls' Athletics Makes Komen Donation

 

At the 7th grade volleyball game on October 20th, the Harris Girls Athletes presented a check for $2,965 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation to help with the ongoing battle against Breast Cancer. Funds were raised by selling Pink Breast Cancer T-shirts that the teams also wore for two "Pink-Out" games.

 

 

Harris to Host First UIL Meet

 

On Saturday, November 12th Harris Middle School will host the first Academic UIL meet of the year. Middle Schools from across NEISD will compete in various academic subjects to begin the competition season. For more information about the meet, please contact Mrs. James.

 

 

Electives Showcase for Incoming Students

 

On Thursday, November 10th the Harris Electives department will host the Electives Showcase. All current 5th graders that plan to attend Harris Middle School and their parents are invited to hear electives teachers discuss their classes and programs. Madison High School Course and Electives Fair

 

All Current 8th graders and their parents are encouraged to attend the Madison course and electives fair on Wednesday, November 9th. 8th grade students will be able to visit with teachers for information concerning academic courses, electives and extra-curricular programs. Popular Author to Visit Harris

 

On Thursday, November 8th, author Jennifer Kogler will visit with the Harris 6th and 7th Grade students. She is the author of several popular books available in the Harris Library, such as The Death Catchers and The Siren's Cry. Please contact Mrs. Downen for more information about the visit.

 

 

Fundraiser Cookie Dough Delivery Extended

 

The cookie dough and other products sold by Harris students as a fundraiser were delivered to campus for student distribution on Thursday, November 3rd at 3:25pm. If you and your student did not yet pick up your merchandise for delivery, pick it up on Friday, November 4th at 3:25 in the Harris cafeteria.

 

 

Final Week of Fall Athletics

 

This week will wrap up football and volleyball for the 2011 season. The Harris football teams will battle Lopez for their final game on Tuesday. The 7th Grade teams will travel to Lopez while the 8th Grade will defend their home field. Games begin at 4:30pm. The Lady Hawks Volleyball team will also compete with Lopez for their final district games on Thursday. The 7th Grade teams will play in the HMS Gym while the 8th Grade travels. First serve at 4:30pm.

 

 

Halloween Dance at Harris

 

On Friday, October 28 there will be a Halloween Dance for all students to attend after school. The 6th Grade dance will be from 4:00pm until 6:00pm. The 7th and 8th Grade dance will be from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Students are encourage to wear costumes to the dance, however masks are not allowed.

 

 

Red Ribbon Week: Say No to Drugs!

 

Harris Middle School will celebrate Red Ribbon Week during the week of October 24th through October 28th. There are numerous activities, dress up days, and contests going on throughout the week. Students also have the opportunity to donate food to the SAMM shelter and have a chance at winning an ice cream party for their class. Please click here to see a summary of the events.

 

 

Early Release Schedule at Harris Middle School

 

Tuesday, October 25 through Thursday, October 27 are early release days at Harris Middle School. These days are used for parent teacher conferences. On these days, the dismissal bell will ring at 1:25pm. (Please Note: Bell schedule for Monday 10/24 and Friday 10/28 is normal bell schedule.)

 

 

Harris Library Celebrates Teen Read Week with Read It Forward

 

The Harris Library is kicking off Teen Read Week early this year with an exciting start to the "Read It Forward" program. Students will have an opportunity to get a copy of Polly Shulman's The Grimm Legacy

to read and pass forward to a friend. Once they have passed the book forward, students can visit the library to add their leaf to the reading tree. Officially, Teen Read Week begins on October 16th.

 

 

Enroll now for Parent/Student Success Course

 

If parents are looking for some ideas as to how to help their students with topics such as goal setting, organization, and study skills, please consider enrolling in the Harris Parent/Student Success Course. The class will meet on October 18th at 6:00 pm in the Harris Computer Lab. Parents in the class will learn of skills and resources that they can access anytime. Harris Choir to Present Fall Concert

 

The Harris Choir will perform their Fall Program on Monday, October 17th at 7:00 pm. The entire community is invited to enjoy the talented voices of Harris Middle School. The performance will be held in the cafeteria.

 

 

Harris Book Club Meetings

 

The Harris Book Clubs will have their first meetings of the year on Tuesday, October 11th. The Student Book Club involves students staying after school to participate in group readings, discussions, and presentations. The Parent/Student Book Club allows for a cooperative effort in these activities in a fun atmosphere. Please contact the Harris Librarian, Mrs. Downen, for more information on Book Club.

 

 

Fun Times to Come at the Harris Festival

 

The Harris Festival will be held RAIN or SHINE on Saturday, October 8th beginning at 10:00am. This year's festival promises to be the largest ever with a huge health fair, numerous performances by Harris musicians, and tons of historical re-enactors such as Medieval Archers, Buffalo Soldiers, and WWII Soldiers. Please make plans to enjoy the performances and the many food and craft booths sponsored by Harris student groups. Join the Harris community for the day of fun on the Harris campus.

 

 

Harris Student Holiday

 

Students will have a school holiday on Monday, October 10th. The day will serve as a Staff Development day on the Harris campus. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, October 11th.

Parent/Student Success Course

 

If you are a parent that would like to have some more insight on how to get your student to succeed, you should attend the Harris Parent/Student Success Class on Wednesday, September 28th at 6:00pm. Many helpful topics will be covered, including goal setting, organizational skills, and free resources provided by NEISD. The class is limited to the first 30 parents that register. NESA Application Information

 

If your 8th grader would like to apply for a spot at the North East School of the Arts, applications for enrollment are available online now. The NESA Homepage has the 5-part available online. The application is due to the NESA office by 4pm on Friday, September 23rd.

Fall Sports Underway at Harris

 

This week the sports season is beginning for the Harris Hawks. The Lady Hawks will continue volleyball season on Thursday, September 15th with games against Jackson. Harris PTA Greenback Night & Meet the Teacher

 

Please support the Harris PTA by coming to Greenback night on Tuesday, September 13th. This is also Meet the Teacher Night at Harris. Come to meet all of your student's teachers and tour our beautiful campus. The activities begin at 5:45 pm.

Fall Picture Day

 

On Friday, September 9th all Harris students will be taking school portraits. The pictures taken during this sitting will appear in the 2011-2012 Harris Yearbook. Handouts will go home with students with information regarding the packages and pricing of the portraits. All payment will be made directly to the Lifetouch personnel on September 9th.

 

 

Labor Day Holiday

 

Monday, September 5 is a school holiday for students and staff of Harris Middle School in honor of Labor Day. Please enjoy a safe holiday weekend. School will resume as normal on Tuesday, September 6.

 

 

Harris Athletes Physical Information

 

All students planning to participate in the athletic program at Harris will need a physical completed before they can participate. Please click here for the NEISD Athletic Physical Form. The physical may be done by any medical doctor.

 

 

Student Packets

 

Student packets were sent home with Harris students on Monday, August 22nd. This packet contains several forms that require parent signatures. Please review these forms and have students return them to their 1st period teacher as soon as possible. Thank you parents!

Getting Ready to Soar

 

Are you ready to soar with the Hawks? We are geting ready for the 2011-2012 school year. The first day of school is Monday, August 22nd and the first bell rings at 8:10 am. You can keep up to date with what is going on at HMS by checking this page regularly.

 

Summer Registration Information

 

Students new to NEISD that will attend Harris may register at campus until June 15th (8am - 3pm). Counselors will return to campus and begin registering students again on August 5th by appointment. Summer Reading Lists

 

The Harris English Department has announced the summer reading lists for 7th and 8th graders next school year. Please note that some lists include required reading. Please click for your child's list: 7th Grade, 7th GT, 7th Pre-AP, 8th Grade, 8th GT, 8th Pre-AP.

 

Harris Summer Recreation Program

 

Harris Middle School will be hosting a Summer Recreation Program from June 20 through July 22 (with a week off July 4-8). The program is open to children ages 7-13. The program runs from 8:00am - 12:00pm daily. Cost is $85.

 

 

Ms. Windwehen is NEISD Teacher of the Year

 

Congratulations are in order for Ms. Loryn Windwehen for winning the North East ISD's Teacher of the Year. Besides being an awesome 7th grade Science teacher, Ms. Windwehen has been an important part of the Harris outdoor classroom and garden development. She has also been key in implementing technology tools throughout the classrooms at Harris. Way to go Ms. Windwehen!

 

 

Mayor Castro Visits Harris

 

On Friday, May 6, Mayor Julian Castro visited Harris Middle School. Mr. Castro visited with the Harris 8th graders about the importance of education in all professions and college preparation. He also stressed that each of the students played an important role in the future of San Antonio.

 

 

Connfetti Girls Author Visit

 

On Friday, April 8th, Diana Lopez,author of Confetti Girls, will be on the Harris campus. Students are encourage to bring their copies of the book to get Mrs. Lopez's autograph. The student with the craziest socks will also win their own special copy. Please contact Mrs. Downen for more information.

 

 

National Junior Honor Society Induction

 

On Wednesday, April 6th, the Harris National Junior Honor Society will induct new members. The Harris Community is invited to take part in their induction beginning at 6:00 pm in the Harris cafeteria. For more information please contact Miss O'Keefe.

 

 

Mardi Gras Masquerade Dance at Harris

 

On Friday, March 25, Harris Middle School will have its very first Mardi Gras Masquerade Dance in the cafeteria.. Students are encouraged to dress up for the dance and decorate their own mask for the contest at each dance. Professional pictures will be taken at the event. The 6th grade dance is from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. The 7th and 8th grade dance is from 6:30 pm-9:00 pm. Tickets will be available during lunches for $5.

 

 

Freedom School Collection

 

Harris Middle School is currently holding a school supply collection for San Antonio's first Freedom School. Freedom School is a voluntary summer school sponsored by the Children's Defense Fund that increases self-esteem, generates positive attitudes and promotes reading. Please bring basic school supplies before March 25th to donate to their effort.

 

 

Spring Break at Harris

 

Spring Break for Harris Middle School students and staff will be the week of March 14th through March 18th. School will resume as normal on Monday, March 21st. We hope you and your family have a fun and safe Spring Break

 

 

Anti-Bullying Contest for Harris Students

 

Harris Middle School is holding an anti-bullying contest with the opportunity to win some great prizes. In the contest, students are encouraged to create a digital booktalk or a poster with an anti-bully message. The prizes include a $50 and $25 gift certificate to Barnes and Noble Booksellers. Entries are due on March 4th. See Mrs. Downen in the library for more information and entry forms.

 

 

7th Grade TAKS Writing Exam

 

On Tuesday, March 1, the Harris 7th graders will be taking the TAKS writing exam. Please help your students to get a good night's rest and breakfast before the testing day. We encourage students to leave their cell phones home on testing days so as not to interrupt the testing environment. Let's help our Hawks do their best!

 

Benchmark Testing On February 23 & February 24

 

On Wednesday, February 23rd the Harris 6th and 7th graders will be taking a Math Benchmark exam during the morning. The 8th graders will be taking the Science benchmark. On Thursday, February 24th the 8th grade students will be taking the Social Studies benchmark exam. Please be sure that students get plenty of rest and a healthy breakfast on these testing days.

 

 

Bad Weather Make Up Day is February 21

 

Harris Middle School will be in session on Monday, February 21st as a bad weather make-up day. It was previously scheduled as a staff development day, however students and staff will hold classes as normal.

 

 

Book Fair is at Harris Middle School

 

Beginning Monday, February 14th, the Book Fair will be open in the Harris Middle School Library. Hundreds of favorite titles will be available for sale until Friday, February 18th. On Tuesday, the Book Fair will have Family Night from 4pm - 7pm. All of the Harris community is invited on this evening to come and browse. The book fair will be open from 7:30am until 4:00pm the rest of the week.

 

Spring Picture Day

 

Friday, February 18th is Spring Picture Day at Harris Middle School. In order for students to take the optional pictures, payment must be made at time of sitting. For more information, please contact the Harris office.

 

 

Spanish Club Collects for Children's Shelter

 

The Harris Spanish Club is sponsoring a collection of items for the San Antonio Children's Shelter. Students are encouraged to bring items such as diapers, infant toys, and childrens clothing to share with the shelter. The collection will continue until February 17th. Please help us strnegthen our community.

 

 

Black History Month Activities at Harris

 

Beginning February 1st, students are encouraged to participate in the Black History Month Challenges as Harris Middle School. The display case just outside the Library will hold different activities for Harris students to complete. The first challenge has begun and will involve identifying historically black colleges and universities.

 

The Spurs Visit the Harris Campus

 

Harris Middle School won the Grand Prize in the Spurs All Star Ballot Contest! Harris students filled out over 54,000 ballots voting for their favorite basketball stars. As the winners, we got a visit from Spurs player James Anderson, the Spurs Coyote, and Silver Dancers on Thursday, January 20th

 

 

2nd Nine Weeks Report Cards Sent Home

 

2nd nine weeks report cards were sent home on Friday, January 21 for parents to review and sign. Parents, please sign the bottom portion of the report card and send it back to school with your student. Thank you for your help!

 

 

Cowboy Up!!! Academic Pep Rally on Friday

 

On Friday, January 21st Harris Middle School will celebrate academic achievement by holding an academic Pep Rally. Students are encouraged to wear Rodeo/Cowboy apparel to show their school spirit during this event (cowboy hats will be allowed this day only). Dust off your boots and get ready to cheer for your academic teams. Please contact Mrs. Trout for more information

Library to Host Student and Parent/Student Book Club Meetings

 

On Tuesday, January 18, the Harris Library will hold Student Book Club Meeting to discuss all three of Lisa Yee's books. Be sure to have your review (on Been There, Read That) of at least one of the books complete before you come to the meeting. Meeting times are 7:40 am and 3:30 pm in the Harris Library. The Parent/Student Book Club will also meet to discuss the book "Eggs" by Jerry Spinelli. The Parent/Student club meeting begins at 6:00 pm in the library.
