Report Cards

All students will be issued a report card at the end of the nine week grading period.  There will be two grades a semester which will be averaged for the semester grade.  The two semester grades are then averaged at the end of the year for the yearly average.  It is this average which determines whether the child has passed the course.

If your child is failing a course at the end of the nine week period, the report card will print a comment asking for you to set up a conference with the teachers. We will need to discuss the reasons for your child's failure and what can be done about it.  We will try to set up some guidelines both at school and at home that might help the student become more successful.  It might be advantageous to have the child sit in on the conference or a part of it so they can participate by giving their own input as to the problems they are encountering.  It is important that we do this early in the year; conferences held in May don't help a child who has been struggling all year.   To schedule a conference you can call the school secretary at 805-5100.  Please come with questions and observations about your child so we can spend the time profitably.  Setting up a plan of action and adhering to it is what we need to concentrate on during that period of time together.
