     The North East Board Policy EIE (Local) was changed last school year regarding grade promotion standards for middle school students.  The policy now reads:

     To be promoted from one grade level to the next,  a student shall attain an overall average of 70 or above for the year in all courses taken.  The overall average shall be derived by averaging the final numerical score for all courses taken.  In addition, a student shall attain an average of 70 or above in language arts, mathematics, and either social studies or science.

     Students MUST pass both MATH and LANGUAGE ARTS in addition to one other solid on order to promote.
