I am originally from Wilmington, NC. I attended NC State University and then joined the Air Force where I spent more than 11 years on active duty as an Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technician (bomb squad). During my time in the Air Force, I finished my undergraduate work at Regis University. Once I separated from active duty, I moved to San Antonio. I have taught 7th Grade Math at STEM (Nimitz) and 8th Grade Math at Jackson Middle School. I graduated with my Masters in Education Administration from Concordia University.
When I have time off, I enjoy fishing and playing golf; however, I do not get much time to do either because I have 5 wonderful kids (Bree-11, Zane-9, Braden-7, Addison & Bianca-2) that take much of my time. My wife, Dawn, and I have been married for 13 years. She is an Education Specialist at Region 20 ESC and has her M.Ed and Principal certification as well.
My leadership philosophy is simple- I am committed to ensuring that students succeed. I believe in building strong relationships with students that make a positive impact on their lives. I am firm with discipline, just as I am with my own children, but I also ensure they know that I want them to reach their potential. I believe public education provides students with great opportunities to be successful and become productive members of society. Educators must set high standards and support students toward achieving those standards. I am excited about joining the Garner Administration and the MacArthur Cluster this year, and look forward to getting to know the Faculty, Staff, Students and Community.
