| The Academic UIL is a group of 6th,
7th, & 8th grade students who participate in academic competitions. |
| The program is designed to
complement the academic curriculum, to motivate students as they acquire
higher levels of knowledge, to challenge students to confront issues of
importance, and to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate
mastery of specific academic skills. |
| The competitions consists of a
series of tests in specific areas. The areas include Math,
Number Sense, Calculator, History, Spelling, Dictionary, Maps, Charts,
and Graphs. |
| The UIL students meet on a weekly
basis with the different Sponsors, to receive instruction and to practice taking the tests in preparation
for meets on Saturday. |
