FREE AND REDUCED MEALS
All families who wish to apply for free or reduced meals in North East Independent School District are encouraged to fill out an application at anytime during the school year. A new application needs to be completed at the beginning of each school year. Students are permitted to receive meal benefits based on last year’s meal status only until October 9, 2007 for Traditional School Year; and September 11 for Castle Hills Elementary (Year Round School). Applications are available at all schools and on the School Nutrition Services web site below.

Helpful Reminders for completing the free/reduced meal application:
Follow the application instructions carefully.
Only one application per family is needed.
Include all students attending NEISD schools in the student section (Part 1) of the application.
Income Based Applications: Benefits are based on family size and income so it is important that everyone is listed. A signature and social security number is required in Part 5.
Food Stamps or TANF: Skip Part 4. A social security number is not required in Part 5. Be sure to sign the application.
Foster Child: Each foster child must be listed on a separate application.
Sign the application in Part 5.Applications without a signature cannot be processed and will delay approval of eligibility status.
Faxed applications are not accepted.
Upon approval, you will receive a letter advising your eligibility status.
You are responsible for any meal charges prior to application approval by the School Nutrition Services office.
