Roosevelt Theatre Company Presents: Bright Ideas by Eric Coble

The targets of the satire in ''Bright Ideas'', Eric Coble's overzealous black comedy are yuppie parents, the striving and competitive couples who will stop at nothing to give their children an advantage.

In this case they are personified by the Bradleys, Joshua (Nathaniel Lawhon) and Genevra (Alenzia McKinney), a less-than-wealthy suburban pair desperate to keep up with the affluent neighbors they meet on the local playground. This means sending their 3-year-old son, Mac, to Bright Ideas, the swankiest preschool in town.

But Mac is stuck on the waiting list, one place away from satisfying his parents' dreams. So Josh and Gen decide on the logical course of action. They'll kill, for once you're in at Bright Ideas you're life will unfold with glorious ease. Josh and Gen have had to scramble all their lives to get this far... you'll never look at pre-school--or pesto--the same way again!

Follow Roosevelt Theatre Co. as we hit the ground running with dark comedy in the 2012 season and 'play... hard.'
