The Southwestern Division prelims for the International Championship of High School A cappella (ICHSA) will be held at MacArthur High School on March 3. Five high school groups from Texas will compete for the right to send a group to New York City to compete at the International Finals. This is the first time this contest has been hosted in Texas and MacArthur’s own PFC is the host group, along with being one of the competitors. The competition will feature groups from Steele HS, MacArthur HS, Warren HS, and A&M Consolidated. Each ensemble will sing a 12 minute set of contemporary a cappella music.
The evening will also feature two guest groups. The Acabellas, an all-female a cappella ensemble from Trinity University, will open the show. The evening will conclude with a performance by the professional jazz a cappella group Clearly Vocal, from Tyler TX. Also, Courtney Jensen, from BYU Noteworthy and The Backbeats, as featured on the Sing-Off Season 2, will be at the event running the show.
