NEISD Performing Arts Students Honored

 

A special ceremony on May 19 th at The Charline McCombs Empire Theatre featured sixteen NEISD students who performed at the Las Casas Foundation’s 2013 Scholarship for Excellence in the Performing Arts.  More than 120 students from thirty-five schools in the South and Central Texas region participated in preliminary auditions, with 24 finalists selected for performance before a panel of professional judges.

 

The following NEISD students were honored with scholarships:

 

Duet Acting:

Emily Kendrick & Alfred Gomez – Churchill - $5,000 each

Kathleen Kinlin & Zoe Windham – Lee/NESA - $4,000 each

 

Acting-Monologue:

Joseph Monsour – Lee/NESA - $5,000

Zack Walker – Johnson - $4,000

Emilia Baker – Reagan - $3,000

Asel Swango – Lee/NESA – 2,000

Kelsi Morse – Churchill - $1,500

Katherine Tompkins – Lee/NESA - $1,000

 

Vocal Solo:

Ashton Cleer – Johnson - $5,000

Jordan Hogan – Lee/NESA - $4,000

Allison Gillespie – Lee/NESA - $1,500

 

Dance Solo:

Christina Poenisch – Lee/NESA - $4,000

Destiny Nedrick – Lee/NESA - $3,000

Amber Ludwig – Lee/NESA - $1,000

 

The foundation’s performing arts scholarship program is designed to award financial assistance to college-bound high school seniors, based on their interests and abilities in the performing arts.  The Foundation is led and largely supported by San Antonio arts patrons.
