Roosevelt Art student honored in Washington D.C.
Roosevelt student Cynthia Villa was honored this summer in Washington D.C. at the annual Congressional Art Competition Awards Ceremony. Her winning photo titled "Serene Sleep" won 1st place in the Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez 20th District of Texas Congressional Art Competition. In addition to a trip for two to Washington D.C., Cynthia also received a cash price of $1,700.00 and a $1,500.00 art scholarship. Her artwork will be on display at the Capitol in Washington D.C. for one year and can be viewed on the U.S. House of Representatives web site HERE.
Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. The competition provides an opportunity for members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents.
