Dance Intensity

TIME: 8:00 Am - 3:00 pm

LOCATION: Roosevelt HS, Auditorium, 5110 Walzem Rd.

NEISD will host its thirteenth annual Dance Intensity workshop from 8 am to 3:00 pm August 7 and 8.  Dance and drill teams from the seven high school campuses and the North East School of the Arts will participate in this workshop featuring six choreographers from throughout the United States. The workshop will be held at Roosevelt  High School.

The instructors this year are:

  • Kelly Beamish–is a graduate of Oklahoma City University. While in Los Angeles, Kelly has appeared in Bo Bice’s video “The Real Thing” and Ice Cube’s comeback video “Race Card” Kelly also performed in Disney’s “The High School Musical” Most recently she toured with “Curtis Adams Magic that Rocks Show” and appeared in NASCAR California Speedway commercial.

  • Sarah Fazio– from New York City is one of the foremost master teachers and choreographers in the country. Sarah has choreographed in Las Vegas as well as for The Carman Heart of Champion Tour which aired on Pay Per View and the Dino Christmas Spectacular which aired on QVC> She teaches for Dance Olympus, International dance Challenge, Dance America, Tam Jams and Starstruck. She won The America’s Young Choreographer Award and also choreographs for Six Flags Productions.


  • Brian Mason–From Atlanta GA is a graduate of OCU and has been a featured dancer in the TV shows Vampire Diaries, Drop Dead Diva, and the feature films Footloose and Pitch Perfect.

  • Lauren Smith –is a graduate of NESA/Lee and Columbia College Chicago. In Chicago she was a member of the hip hop company BoomCrack! Lauren has been featured in the Bollywood film Dhoom 3 and was a soloist for promotional events for the film Step Up Revolution. She danced with Beyonce on the Oprah: the Farewell Spectacular. Lauren lived in Los Angeles and recently signed with MSA Talent Agency.

  • David Hernandez- David is a native of San Antonio, and began his training at the North East School of the Arts (NESA). He attended Point Park University in Pittsburgh, PA as a dance major where he was seen in the productions The Snow Queen by Doug Bentz, Pittsburgh Connections, Dance with Me by Ron Tassone, and Ursonata by Bill T. Jones (restaged by Roz LeBlanc). He has also done television, radio work, San Antonio Spurs Halftime performances, and charity events (Make A Wish Benefit and AIDS Benefit.)

  • Curtis Holbrook – attended the North East School of The Arts the first two years of the schools existence. He also taught at Dance Intensity for several years in the past and we are thrilled to have him back teaching in his hometown! Curtis’ Broadway credits include featured roles in If/Then, West Side Story, Xanadu, All Shook Up, Addams Family, Taboo, Boy From Oz, Follies. Fosse, and Footloose.

  • Evan Kaspazak - has a BFA in musical theater from Illinois Wesleyan University. He was the third place finalist on So You Think You Can Dance Season 5 specializing. Evan made his Broadway debut and created the role of Elmer in Newsies! He recently performed in Can Can at the Papermill Playhouse.
