Instructions

  • Click on the blank document tab - choose blank page
  • On your toolbar select arrange and choose layout guides:

  • On the layout guide screen choose the number of columns you wish to display. Notice in the preview area you have an opportunity to view immediately what your document looks like.

  • Back on the main screen use your text frame tool to draw in your full length text boxes over each of the 3 columns.
  • To link the columns with each other so that text flows from one column to the next, click on your first text column on the far left side. Once you click on the text column the following icon should appear on your toolbar This is your connect text frames tool. Click on this icon and move your mouse over the middle text column. Your mouse will turn into a water pitcher pouring out water. Left mouse click and you have just linked the middle column to the far left column. Repeat the same steps to link the middle column to the far right column.
  • Once a text frame is linked this icon appears at the top of a text frame as a reminder from where the text is entering from.
  • This icon appears at the bottom of a text frame as a reminder to where the text is going once it flows out of the text frame.
