1.  Go to Table > Insert > Table.

2.  Choose the amount of rows and columns you will be working with.

3.  If you want a border around every cell in your table make sure the Border is set at 1or above.  If you don't want a border, simply set that to 0.
Experiment with the padding, background, etc ...

4.  To revise the Table later, right click on the table and go to "Table Properties."  There are lots of cool things on this!

5.  You can enter text into your table and format (change font, color, point size) as you would normally do in MS Word using the Formatting Toolbar.

This is a sample table with pictures (to get the yellow I used a background color and pictures on top):
