Sensory Images are words or phrases that appeal to your sense of sight, sound, taste, smell and touch.  You can use them in your writing to paint a picture of your poem or story in the reader's mind.  Here are some examples:

 

The frail child's shriek sent rippling waves of

nausea cascading down my already queasy stomach. 

 

 

The tiny hummingbird hovered silently

over the fragrant sweet flowers.

 

   

  • Read  A Christmas Memory by Truman Capote or one of the other poems linked below

  • Think about words or phrases that appeal to your senses

  • Save the Inspiration Template to your folder and record the words or phrases that appeal to your senses under the correct category - Sight, Sound, Taste, Smell, Touch
