Lesson Titles: More or Less Likely? (Value of a collection of coins) Software Application(s): PowerPoint Directions: These lessons will take two or three visits to the computer lab. Before you go into the lab, be sure your students are familiar with "more" or "less likely" and when to use each of these terms. Also, students working with the values of coins, should have experience using coins in the classroom to find different combinations to make a certain value less than a dollar. Begin by going over the PowerPoint template on More or Less Likely happenings in the classroom so students will know what to expect when they go to the lab. (You might even have one or two students come to the computer to drag a picture or two onto the line as they will be doing on their own.) Once students are familiar with the process of clicking and dragging, they are ready to go to the lab to work on their own template. Once the students have logged in, have them go to the student shared drive, find where you have placed the template, and save it to their own directories. Click here to find the directions that work well with younger students. Your students can work independently or with a partner. For most of the slides, the students will read the question and then click and drag the picture or answer in the blank at the bottom of the slide. For the last three slides, the students will make up their own "more or less likely" question, and insert pictures or words. When everyone is finished, have students switch computers and see if they can solve each other's questions. Students can then save their work and print it out to make small books. Value of a Collection of Coins For this lesson be sure to review the template with the class.
Students should save the template to their
personal directory first, and then
follow the directions on each slide. |
