Identify and observe effects of events that require time for changes to be noticeable including growth, erosion, dissolving, weathering, and flow. G1 Create a diagram or open an existing template that explains an idea or concept.
    G2 Insert symbols or pictures into diagram
    G3 Enter text
    G6 Use the Rapid Fire tool to input ideas into a diagram.
    G7 Use the Spell Check icon to edit diagrams.
    G8 Compile notes and ideas into outlines using the Outline View.
    W1 Create a new document or open an existing one on the student-shared directory.
    W5 Use the Spelling and Grammar and Thesaurus features to edit documents.
    W6 Understand AutoCorrect feature for spelling and grammar. Correct these by right-clicking on the underlined word(s) and selecting the appropriate option.
    DP3 Click in the text boxes and replace text.
    DP4 Use the Spelling feature to edit documents.
    DP5 Right-click on images, choose Change Picture, Picture, and Clipart to replace existing picture with another selection.
Directions:

This activity should take 2-3 weeks in the lab to complete.

Part I - Inspiration Template

  1. Open template. To save, have students click on File/Save As and navigate to their personal directory and click Save.
  2. For activity #1, use links to gather data regarding a specific agent of erosion. Add idea bubbles to each question provided on idea map.
  3. For activity #2, using the Rapid Fire tool, brainstorm ways that the Earth changes as a result of erosion and weathering. The following website may be used after whole group brainstorming.

Part II - Newsletter Pre-write directions:

  1. Using completed and printed Inspiration thought web, students open a blank Microsoft Word document and do a Pre-write activity to plan and write their stories to enter in the Newsletter template.

Part III - Publisher Newsletter Template

  1. Using their Inspiration planning web and their pre-write stories, students enter their stories and data into the Newsletter template.
  2. Students may change the graphic to represent their agent of erosion. To change the graphic, right-click on the graphic and select Change Picture, Picture and then Clipart.
