Generalization: The earth is divided into hemispheres.

Directions:

  1. Right click here on Show Me the Evidence (PowerPoint). Select Save Target As.
  2. Save it into Student Share in the 3rd grade folder. Navigate to the icon in Student Share, right click on it, and mark it as Read Only to protect it.
  3. Students will click once on the PowerPoint lesson in Student Share, copy it, and paste it into their own personal directory.
  4. They will work with the lesson in Normal or Slide View.
  5. The students will read the prediction slide, then click on the next slide and delete either the words True or Not True to leave the correct response remaining on the slide.
  6. Then they will use pieces of information from their textbook to write evidence that supports their position in the Here's the Evidence box.
  7. Then the students will insert pictures into their slide show.
  8. The students will save their work as they add to it.
  9. Then they are ready to share their slide show.

Another way to use this activity ...

  1. Save the Show Me the Evidence lesson into Staff Share in the 3rd grade folder.
  2. Open it from your multimedia computer that is hooked up to your TV, and show one prediction slide at a time up on the TV.
  3. The students will read the prediction, and then use their textbook to support or reject the prediction. They will write their response in their journal.
  4. Then the teacher will ask the class to discuss their responses and come to a consensus.
  5. Next the teacher will type in the class response on the Here's the Evidence slide.
  6. The activity may be completed over a period of days, and then shared as a class review in Slide Show view.
