Directions:

This activity should take 2-3 weeks in the lab to complete.

Part I - Inspiration Template

  1. Open template. To save, have students click on File/Save As and navigate to their personal directory and click Save.
  2. For activity #1, click on the link and use the information to help students link the definition to the correct form of matter.
  3. Using the Link tool, students match the description of matter to each correct form of matter.
  4. For activity #2, use the rapid fire tool to brainstorm and add examples for each form of matter. To use the rapid fire tool, click on the word (solid, liquid, gas) until there is a blinking cursor behind it. From the toolbar, click on the rapid fire tool. After brainstorming and typing a word, click enter. This will automatically create a new idea bubble.

Part II - Power Point Template

  1. Using the Power Point slide show template, students can begin to complete the presentation using their notes from their Inspiration thought web.
  2. Slide 1: Title slide - students create and type in a title to represent the theme.
  3. Slides 2-7: Using their thought web, students type in data for each piece of information provided. Sentence starters are provided. They may then add pictures representing the specific matter examples.
  4. Students may go back and change the style of the title on each slide - font, font style (bold, italic, underline) size, color.
  5. Students should add additional graphics on the title slide, format the background, and edit slide transitions for their presentation.
