Science TEKS   NEISD Technology Standards
2.2E The student will construct reasonable explanations and draw conclusions using information and prior knowledge. B1 Use My Computer to navigate to available drives.
2.3A The student is expected to make decisions using information. B3 Exit programs by clicking on the "X" in the upper right hand corner of a program window.
2.9A The students is expected to identify the external characteristics of different kinds of plants and animals that allow their needs to be met. B4 Use the left click button on the mouse to select or drag objects on the screen.
2.9B The student is expected to compare and give examples of the ways living organisms depend on each other and on their environments. B7 Understand and properly use Save and Save As.
    M1 Open an existing presentation on the student-shared directory.
    M2 Use a teacher created template to complete and activity.
    M5 Add text to slides.
    M6 Change the font size, type, style, and color.
Directions:

This activity should take 2-3 weeks in the lab to complete.

Part I - Inspiration Template

  1. For activity #1, click on the link and find out the definitions for producers and consumers. Discuss.
  2. For activity #2, click on the link and find out the types of consumers. Create new idea bubbles for herbivore, carnivore and omnivore off of link #2.
  3. Add additional graphics for examples.
  4. For activity #3, click on the link and research 4 of the animals provided. Students should take notes in their journals.

Part II - Power Point Template

  1. Using the Power Point slide show template, students can begin to complete the presentation with their notes from their journals.
  2. Slide 1: Title slide - students create and type in a title to represent the theme.
  3. Slides 2-5: Using their notes, students type in data for each piece of information provided. Sentence starters are provided. Students should fill in appropriate information next to the asterisks and complete each sentence. They may then add a picture representing the animal.
  4. Students may go back and change the style of the title on each slide - font, font style (bold, italic, underline) size, color.
