TEACHER/ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION
SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree
Valid Texas Special Education Certificate with an area specialization or teaching field in Physical Education or Health
Valid Texas Driver License with driving record that meets thre requirements of the District

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and implements lesson plans that fulfill the requirements in student learning styles
Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials and equipment that reflects understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
Conducts assessment of student learning styles and uses results to plan instructional activities
Works cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curriculum as needed for special education student according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP)
Conducts ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing
Creates classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students
Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook
Establishes and maintains openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers
Keeps informed of and complies with state, District and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY: Teacher Salary Schedule PAY GRADE: WORK SCHEDULE: Ten Months
