AUTOMOTIVE INSTRUCTOR
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY ACADEMY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's Degree from a four year college or university or Associates Degree or equivalent from a two year college or technical school
Five or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
ASE Certification in Brakes, Electrical/Electronics, Suspension/Steering, Air Conditioning and Engine Performance
Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identifies, selects and modifies instructional automotive resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles and special needs
Maintains effective and efficient records
Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis
Collaborates with peers to develop a rigorous curriculum
Implements classroom management
Monitors classroom management
Models professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, community, and other professionals
Maintains an active Skills USA Chapter by training all students to participate4
Supervises students on field trips and contests
Participates in advanced technology training in the automotive industry
Develops and implements an active recruiting plan for prospective students
Seeks, accepts and responds to evaluative feedback from supervisors, peers and subordinates
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

SALARY: Teacher Salary Schedule PAY GRADE: WORK SCHEDULE: Ten Months
