NIGHT SHIFT MECHANIC

TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training
Must possess or obtain within 90 days after employment a Valid Texas Class "B" Commercial Driver's License with Air Brake and Passenger Endorsement
Must possess or obtain within 90 days after employment as Air Conditioning/Refrigerant Recycling License and also a Texas State Inspection License
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organizations
Must be able to pass physical and drug test

MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Utilize diagnostic equipment to analyze mechanical problems on a wide variety of vehicles and corrects them with a minimal amount of direct supervision
Demonstrates process of preventive maintenance and visual inspections to Mechanic Helpers
Performs drivability test to insure safe operation of vehicles after completion of maintenance and/or repairs
Communicates status of vehicle to dispatcher over a two way radio
Corrects unsafe conditions in work areas and reports any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately
Maintains accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service
Operates buses and other vehicles as needed
Works irregular hours as needed
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

HOURLY:
$15.44-$18.60 plus night shift differential .85 cents per hour PAY GRADE: O6 WORK DAYS: 260
