ACADEMIC DEAN OF INSTRUCTION
(INTERNAL ONLY)
HARRIS MIDDLE SCHOOL

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's Degree
  • Four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Valid Texas Teacher Certification by the State Board
  • Valid Supervision and/or Mid-Management Certification by the State Board
  • Valid Texas Driver License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District
MAJOR PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists administrators and teachers in planning, implementing, and assessing the District curriculum, goals and objectives
  • Collaborates with central office staff, administrators, department chairperson, and team leaders in monitoring the delivery of curriculum
  • Utilizes a clinical supervision model to observe teachers and provide feedback on instruction
  • Collaborates with high school and elementary instructional staff to vertically align the curriculum and instructional practices
  • Coordinates and articulates the Pre-AP and enrichment programs for the campus
  • Assists administrators and teachers in planning, implementing, and assessing staff development programs
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and assessing best practice teaching methodologies in the classroom
  • Performs demonstration teaching within the classrooms
  • Coordinate the extended day, week, and year initiatives for the campus
  • Assists in developing, implementing, and assessing the Campus Improvement Plan
  • Assists in developing the master schedule
  • Plans, coordinates, and assesses, in collaboration with feeder school administrators, transition activities for the 5th to 6th and 8th to 9th grade students
  • Analyzes teacher and campus-developed tests for relevance, appropriateness and content
  • Assists administrators and teachers in analyzing benchmark, District and state testing
  • Assists in identifying at-risk students and coordinates early intervention strategies
  • Arranges for flexible grouping and pullout programs for at-risk students
  • Attends Leadership, Academic Dean, Department Chairperson, and other campus or District meetings as directed
  • Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned 
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
SALARY: $56,502-$69,329 PAY GRADE: A4 WORK SCHEDULE: Eleven Months
