Day 1

Preparing To Write Using A Prompt

 

Students will prepare to use the prompt stated and write their compositions.\

(See list of books at the end of this lesson plan.) 

Day 2

Exploding Moments: Finding Examples In Literature

Teacher will model exploded moments from literature. Students will look for examples of exploded moments in literature.

Day 3

Exploding A Moment: Writing In Slow Motion

The teacher will model how to take a moment in time and to slow it down, using description and examples. The students will apply this strategy in their compositions.

Day 4

Box and Explode

The teacher will model how to ?box an idea? in the composition and then ?explode it? by adding details. Students will then use this strategy..

Day 5

Focused Revision and Editing Using Student Papers

Students will analyze examples of compositions using the focused revision and editing TEKS.  Then, students return to their compositions to revise and edit.
