Cell phone and paging devices are allowed on campus during the instructional day or while attending school-sponsored or school-related activities during school hours, on or off school property, including school transportation, as long as the devices are concealed and turned off.
Violation of the procedure will result in the following penalties:
The first violation that results in a cell phone/electronic device confiscation will result in a face to face conference with the student, parent/guardian and administrator. Disciplinary action may be taken at the conclusion of the conference and the device shall be returned to the parent/guardian, with the warning that a second violation will result in the device not being returned to the parent/guardian.
A second violation will result in a parent/guardian-student conference, include a disciplinary action, and the device shall be held by the school until the end of the semester.
A third violation will result in a parent/guardian-student conference, include a disciplinary action, and the device shall be held by the school until the end of the school year or returned to the company issuing the device.
Infractions involving serious violations including, but not limited to, an invasion of privacy, inappropriate text messaging, “sexting”, or activities causing any school
disruption will result in a disciplinary action including suspension and/or alternative placement, as well as, the loss of cell phone privileges for the school year. The cell phone infraction cycle does not start over with the purchase of a new/different phone or phone service.
More information on cell phones and paging devices may be found in the Student/Parent Handbook for Secondary Campuses.
