Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
Monday, September 28, 2009, we held our first Math night. Parents got a chance to get some helpful resources and to practice some Math Skills with their children. Keep watching for announcements of other parent nights at Driscoll.
We had a great turn out for our television sale on Saturday, October 3. Thank you to everyone for your support. We raised almost $2000 to help support campus initiatives for student success.
Progress Reports will be distributed this Friday, October 9, 2009. The reports will be sent home with your children. Please make sure you ask for them.
On Monday October 12, 2009, we will be holding an English as a Second Language (ESL) Parent Night for parents of ESL students in sixth and seventh grades. We will be discussing choice sheets for elective classes students would like to take next year. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a discussion about the program and to answer any questions you might have. The main discussion will begin at 5:30 p.m. Please come and join us.
We want our students to enjoy their school year, and to be excited about being at Driscoll. They have done a great job, and we want to recognize their efforts. This week we will be announcing that, starting Friday 10/9/09, every Friday will be a jean day. Students may wear their jeans on Fridays, unless otherwise directed.
Please be aware that all other dress code expectations are still in place. In addition we ask that students do not wear jeans that are torn, or have holes in them. The jeans do not have to be blue, as long as they are denim material.
We are happy to provide this incentive to our kids!
Construction will begin this week to add air conditioning to our gyms and locker areas. From October through November, the practice gym and girls locker area will be under construction. During the November through early January, the main gym and boy’s locker area will be under construction. The shop area has been cleared and cleaned to be used as a temporary locker area. Secure rooms have been set up in the shop to secure student belongings.
Due to the construction, beginning Monday, October 5, all volleyball “GO” Team practices will take place Monday and Wednesday nights from 5:45 p.m. to 7:20 p.m. Please be advised that athletes should go home and return at their practice time. There will be no supervision for these girls prior to practice. Athletes need to arrive dressed and ready for practice.
We apologize for any inconvenience. Please realize that this is a temporary situation, as we look forward to having air conditioning in our gyms and locker rooms. Thank you for your support.
As a reminder to all parents who attend athletic events, there is a fee for admission. The cost is $2 for adults and $1 for children/students.
We are also looking for someone to help run the game clock at our home Football games. Games begin at 4:30, so you would need to arrive before that time. There is a small fee paid. If you are interested, please call or come by our front office and leave your information.
