New Features for Grade Speed
Improvements to GradeSpeed.NET
The Educational Technology Department and Campusware have been
working diligently over the past few months to improve the function and
efficiency of GradeSpeed.NET. We are pleased to announce that a new feature
called Quick Edit
is now available for your use.
At this time, it appears that the features described below will be the default
features for the start of the 2005-2006 school year. However, at this time,
you can manually turn the Quick Edit
feature on/off at
your discretion as you
begin to experiment with the changes.
The Quick Edit
selection box is located near
the bottom left-hand corner of the screen directly below the LOGOUT icon.
When the Quick Edit
feature is engaged:
• The grade book is always in EDIT mode…meaning that you no longer have to
click EDIT or EDIT ALL to enter a grade. Just navigate to the assignment of
interest and start entering grades.
• The UPDATE button is used as a SAVE NOW feature, meaning that you can
click it at any time during the grade entry process. The data you have entered
will be saved and you will be returned to the exact location you were at prior
to clicking on UPDATE. (No more redundant scrolling).
• Assignment names and student names are frozen at the top and left side
of the screen respectively…eliminating the frustration of trying to figure out
which student / assignment you are working on at any given time.
• The column selection menu has been removed completely. The program will
default to show you six assignments at a time unless you check the ALL
ASSIGNMENTS box at the top of the screen.
• The selected assignment and student information are always displayed on
the bottom of the screen for additional clarification. In addition, the name
of the student is also highlighted in bright yellow whenever you have selected
an assignment within that student’s row.
• The program keeps track of how many changes you have made since you last
saved your work, displays that information at the bottom of the screen, and
prompts you to save those changes before it allows you to change screen views
(such as changing to the assignment or report screen). However, clicking on
the X in the upper right hand corner of the screen will still log you out of
the program without saving.
• The program will indicate that you have an error in a grade entry by
highlighting the cell that contains the error in red. All grades that were
entered properly will be saved when you click UPDATE…leaving only the
incorrect grades that need to be corrected and then saved again.
• You are able to place your grade book into password protection
automatically by clicking on the LOCK icon on the left side of the screen. You
will be prompted to save your changes before being allowed to lock your grade
book. The correct password must be entered by the 4th attempt or you will
be logged out of the grade book. Clicking on the X in the upper right-hand
corner of the password protection screen will log you out of your grade book
immediately.
