Library Facility

The library staff is committed to providing an enticing environment that is conducive to exploring the joy of reading for pleasure.  The facility is wonderful and houses over 10000 books.  Currently the library has a ratio of 21 books per student.  The library was renovated in 2001 and is named in honor of Carolyn Wease Brown.  Mrs. Brown has dedicated over 40 years to the Dellview community and retired from Dellview in 2007.

Library Expectations

•Always walk in the library

•Respect others' right to read by using quiet voices.

•Teachers may send two students at anytime to check-out during the day, or the may bring their entire class during a scheduled check-out time.

•Please wait your turn quietly.

•Never horseplay in the library.  We want you to be safe at all times.

•Always use your shelf marker when browsing for new books.  Remember, once you've made your selection, remove the shelf marker and take your book to the circulation desk.

Caring for Your Books

•Always wash and dry your hands before handling library books.

•Never eat or drink near library books.

•Keep pencils, pens, markers, and other school supplies off of the library books at all times.  If you are taking notes from a book, place your paper on the table or desk, not on the book itself.

•Use bookmarks to mark your place, don't dog-ear the pages.

•Turn pages carefully, using the corners.

•Be careful to keep your library books dry and safe.  Carry books securely to keep them from falling on the ground. When it's raining, make sure to carry your library books in your backpack where they'll stay clean and dry.

•Keep all library materials away from pets.

•If you notice any damaged library materials, please tell the library staff immediately.

Library Resources

•The Dellview Library encourages all students to become active users of the library. We feel that the library is the central place on the campus where every learner is welcomed. Parents are also encouraged to become active in their child's reading. No one is ever excluded from the library.

•Students are expected to conduct themselves accordingly at all times when in the library.

•The Library's goal is to encourage reading by giving students the opportunity to get good books into the students' hands, and thereby, into the hearts of readers of all ages.

•Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade may check out one item for a period of up to one week.

•Students in 2nd grade may check out two items for a period of up to one week.

•Students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades may check out three items for a period of up to one week.

•Parents may check out up to five items for a period of one week. These books will be checked out under their child's name.

•Staff members may check out an unlimited number of materials.

•The library doesn't charge fines for overdue books; however, we do request that you return your books in a timely manner so that others may enjoy these items. A book that is more than one week past due will result in a suspension of borrowing privileges until the overdue item/items is/are either returned or paid for.

•In order to replace any lost or damaged books, a fine will be assessed based on the current price of the book.
