Shadowing

Shadowing is an opportunity for prospective eighth-graders to follow a DATA student for the day and experience DATA first-hand. Students who are interested in DATA should complete the Shadow Form and indicate special areas of interest. The DATA staff will try to match DATA Ambassadors and their class schedules with eighth-graders based on the indicated areas of interest.

For example, if you indicate that you are interested in basketball, animation and math, we will try to match you with a student whose schedule closely matches your interests. Shadowing is a great way to “live the life of a DATA student” – even if it’s just for one day.

Shadowing occurs during the months of November, December and January and is limited to Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays only. Shadow days are scheduled through the DATA secretary.

Shadow students should plan to arrive at 8:40 AM in the DATA office and should be picked up at he DATA office at 3:15 PM.

Finally, students are given a written excuse for the day they shadow at DATA which should be turned in to the middle school attendance office for an excused absence.

What to bring on your Shadow Day:

  1. Money for lunch
  2. Paper and pencil/pen
  3. Backpack to carry your personal belongings
