Hide and Seek
My safety lies in my mind
Where my thoughts are my own,
And yet even there
Thoughts arrive that scare me.
My safety lies in my memories
Because they?re my memories
With no intrusion of
someone else?s reality.
Sometimes I play hide and seek
for a safe place . . .
Sometimes I play hide and seek
with safety.
Veneer
Amber red sears to steel blue crackles
beneath the veneer,
the nice girl
compliant, craven veneer.
The veneer thins
Can bend no more.
Enough injustice!
Enough insensitivity!
Enough intensity!
Enough emotion!
Enough heat!
Enough!
