Anticipation

Time lingers as a boy enveloped in quilts waits and watches. Minutes seem like hours as the snow swirls and crystals adhere to the glass. The wind howls and whistles, causing the panes of glass to rattle. In the distance, snow leaps from the ground. Hooves brush the landscape and the sled floats through the air. The chuckling of bells call through the night. A smile emerges as the child realizes that Santa Claus has fulfilled his promise. Although the anticipation of his arrival has faded, tomorrow will bring more surprises.
