Veterans Day

Celebrated November 11

"In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned.  When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot."  ~Mark Twain, Notebook, 1935

Celebrated on November 11, or the nearest weekday, Veterans Day is celebrated in honor of American military veterans. Veterans day is celebrated on the same day as Remembrance Day or Armistice Day, honoring veterans across the globe. Major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice. Ceremonies are held at schools, community centers, and military installations across the country honoring the men and women who have served their country.
