The North East ISD School Board Of Trustees convened in special session to approve a capital improvement bond election for November 8, 2011 for $399,410,000. More information is available on two videos: "Why We Do What We Do" and "2011 Bond Proposal." In "Why We Do What We Do" Superintendent Dr. Brian Gottardy explains the North East ISD strategy for building schools. The second video, "2011 Bond Proposal," provides a brief summary of the District's proposed 2011 Capital Improvement Bond Program.

Two North East schools received awards from the "Exhibit of School Architecture," a collaborative project of the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA), the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB), and the Texas Society of Architects (TSA).
  • Cibolo Green Elementary School was recognized in six categories:
    Value, Process of Planning, Design, Educational Appropriateness, Innovation, and Sustainability. Read more.
  • Tuscany Heights Elementary School was recognized in two categories: Design and Educational Appropriateness. Read more.

The Board approved an Interlocal Agreement regarding Knights Cross Elementary School. The Board also approved the following: Secondary Schools HVAC Upgrades Project Bid Package VIII (Bradley and Wood MS) Schematic Design (SD); Transportation North Bid Package II Facility Renovations, Site Landscaping and Civil SIte Improvements Construction Documents; Lee High School New JROTC Facility Schematic Design (SD); and the Safe Routes to School Infrastructure Grant (Phase 2) Application.

North East ISD opened its newest athletic facility, Heroes Stadium, to the community for the Madison High School vs. O'Connor High School football game. Heroes Stadium is named in honor of all past, current and future graduates and staff who walk through NEISD as heroes. The complex includes a football/soccer field, shot put/discus area, athletic support facilities, press box, covered-observation deck, ticket and office facilities, spirit club/merchandise booths, full-service concession stands, central plant services, and bus circulation.
